The Church Grim is the eternal guard dog and a powerhouse of deathly force. From head to tail, it wears a gaping maw that stretches ten feet high when fully opened. Its sheer bite force is so immense that it can snap horses in two.

Appearance

A typical Grim resembles a compact mass of dog, akin to a mastiff, with a mouth that stretches from nose to tail. The interior of its maw resembles the rugae of a stomach and can stretch to fit whatever it pleases. However, this cavity is entirely nonfunctional and cannot digest anything. On occasion, the corpses of a Grim's previous victims can be seen slowly rotting within its confines, giving most specimens an overpowering stench. Its radiation glows bright red.

Anomalies include Grims with extra rows of teeth, an extra dog-head within the mouth (said to function akin to a pharyngeal jaw) and extra rows of eyes.

Relations with other Ethereals

Barghest
The wandering nature of the Barghest can unsettle a Church Grim at first, but once acclimated, the Grim is usually tolerant.

Black Shuck
A Grim will fight to the death if a Shuck attempts to claim its grounds.

Church Grim
There are few cases of this happening, as to even leave the churchyard, a Grim must do so with something from said churchyard. Most Grims get along as long as they've been created together.

Gytrash
The sight of a Gytrash is enough to make most Grims perish on the spot; most have experienced long nights of being harried, teased and prodded all over by one of these nuisances.
