Rozzlyn is a main character in Dancing with the Dead. She is a troubled human familiar who comes to like Edgar.

History

Rozzlyn was born into Liverpool's foster system, where she suffered from the effects of urban deprivation. Upon turning 18, she aged out of her foster care and subsequently became homeless. During her homelessness, she was assaulted by an unknown man, who she stabbed in self-defense. The nature of this killing, as firmly maintained by Rozzlyn, was accidental.

While homeless, she was discovered and captured by the Liverpool City Branch of the EVS. In their custody, she was assigned to the hamlet of Woodsgrave as a familiar. She briefly worked under August Belfort, Woodsgrave's Livestock manager. There she clashed with him and accidentally exorcised a toilet of Will O' the Wisps, but also met Edgar Nightingale in the process.

Personality

Rozzlyn is a sensitive, pensive woman forced to maintain a tough facade. She lets herself feel emotions, albeit privately. What she deems a more socially palatable emotion is her anger, which she expresses with gusto. Her feelings of injustice, while imprisoning, give her a sense of purpose. She has an especially present anger towards male characters, although whether this is is out of misandry or a reaction to misogyny remains unclear. Rozzlyn's anger is not violent, despite the impression given by her appearance. Rather, she retorts with jabs and jeers, the most verbal wit she can summon on the spot. She has a desire to equalise her situation, and let her superiors know that she is watching them just as much as they watch her. Despite being frightened by August, she is quick to challenge him. Even going so far as to haggle with him for a pay-rise. While he ultimately tricks her into recieving less, she remains persistent with her goals and continues to put pressure on characters all-to-willing to contain her. She can let her guard down around strangers, to whom she is curt and unfriendly, but not without a test of honesty.

When alone and able to think by herself, Rozzlyn is curious and sensory-seeking. Her interest in drawing comics demonstrates a strong desire to communicate, albeit in ways atypical to most. Literal minded and overt in her humour, but imaginiative and resourceful. If she is safely allowed to be tender, she will do so. She's an affectionate lover and yearns for intimacy, a far-cry from the butch lesbian stereotype. Rozzlyn can thrive, when she's allowed to.

Appearance

Rozzlyn resembles a woman in her early twenties'. She has short, gelled hair. Her face has a wide nose, shaved eyebrows, a subtle underbite and pronounced ears. Her body is pear-shaped, with pendulous breasts and a subtle belly. In coloured renders she has black hair and a sickly complexion.
