Dancing with the Dead is an adult webcomic unearthed by yours truly. After three years of development, it launched on January 14th, 2022 and has been haunting my mind since. It's a blend of character relationships, spooky hijinks, and undead tiddy action.
Set in a North Yorkshire hamlet miles from a single human, a post office, or thankfully Sheffield, Woodsgrave is occupied by the undead and micromanaged to death by unchanging hamlet politics. Their human familiars, terminally bored and starting to think homelessness might be a better deal, assist with the day-to-day. Most vampire denizens live beneath the chapel mausoleum; the more fortunate occupy cottages and offsite estates. Nobody is particularly interested in revolution when there's cheap alcohol, things to throw at the village necrophile, and the general comfort of sitting about in immortal depression.
That is, until a longtime rogue vampire and his banshee girlfriend find themselves initiated, and things in Woodsgrave might finally start moving.

Edgar
Spent 74 years frogging in peoples' houses and pretending to be a cat until he got laid. Overcorrects for being a vampire by letting every man, woman and child walk all over him.
Crystin
Ex-vet tech trades the abject depression of north wales for frollicking in the grass and refusing to speak to anyone except for a cat and a homeless guy.
Clifford
Had it all, until he didn't. Now has (another) jilted ex, a rekindled hatred for life and a crusty white dog with shit in its eyes.

Rozzlyn
A product of societal neglect that draws comix, huffs tiddies and would like to die somewhat but it's the 70s' so nobody really cares all that much. Here because vampires love cheap labourers that nobody will question the absence of.

THE NEWS

Episode 18 is here! For the next few days I'm going to work on DWTD's code and also wrangle the folders a bit. I'm debating folding this comic into the Pearlnight website, the way that I've done it for my friend Lutz and their comic. While I'm unsure when it'll be done, I am in the process of revising the wikipages with some more encyclopedic writings. I also have an Inform 7 version of Foxtrot in the works that I definitely want to get back to, alongside developing Episode 19!
COMING SOON
Episode 19, and a potential Inform 7 port for Foxtrot. It'll be an expanded version of the base game with new rooms, puzzles and deaths!
STUFF TO DO
24/05/26
- Add sketches onto the gallery and wikipages.
- Add various doo-dads, doo-hickeys and doodles.
- Create individual floating cursor sprites for the wiki pages. For variety's sake I'm keeping this to characters' animal forms and pets. Clifford will have Princess, August will have one of his black dogs, and so on so forth.
- Fix up the presentation for the Wiki pages some more. A footer menu is long overdue.
- Redo that FAQ.
- Redo that Glossary.
