The Gytrash is a truly wild spirit with an endless hunger for any foot that dares tread its lonely roads. Its the most luminous of the black dogs, and their fastest, with its saucerlike eyes and wide grin. This black dog spends its unlife bolting across the countryside until it finds something to amuse itself with. Humans tend to be this dog’s favourite playthings, whether they’re mowed down by its hooves or bewitched with a well-placed jinx. Luckier men find their milk sour, others find their blood curdled.
Appearance
A typical Gytrash resembles an emaciated animal, most frequently a greyhound, cow, or mule. Its eyes are wide and fishlike, akin to those of a deep sea animal. Its skin has a uniquely gelatinous appearance, and is very reactive to light. Regardless of its forms, it will always have hooves. Its radiation is a brilliant green.
Anomalies include Gytrashes with extra rows of teeth, eyes that appear to melt from their heads, multiple sets of legs or missing forelegs.
Relations with other Ethereals
Barghest
The Gytrash is unamused by the Barghest’s stillness and generally leaves it alone.
Black Shuck
The Gytrash is intrigued by the Shuck’s flashing flames, alternating between greeting and harassing it.
Church Grim
Encounters with Grims end poorly. The Gytrash provokes territorial Grims by lingering near unreachable areas, teasing them relentlessly. In direct combat, it will attempt to flip a Grim on its back with its sheer speed.
Gytrash
Kindred spirits in the worst possible way. Packs of Gytrash are where sanity goes to die.
