- Joseph Wright, The English Dialect Dictionary (1898)

The Padfoot is one of the most vicious black dogs, and a notorious predator of familiars. Its hypnotic powers make it especially capable of securing victims, which wander haplessly into its numerous rows of teeth.

Appearance

A typical Padfoot resembles an oversized bull-terrier, with a muscular, top-heavy build. Its northern counterpart more closely resembles a bull-terrier, whereas its Midlands counterpart resembles a Staffordshire terrier. Its eyes are large, with pupils resembling rings of light. Its radiation is light purple with darker accents.

Anomalies include Padfoots with teeth growing on their tongues, teeth growing inside their stomachs and extra eyes between their existing pair.

Relations with other Ethereals

Barghest
A Padfoot will ignore a Barghest if it senses the creature won’t impede its bloodlust.

Black Shuck
The two rarely overlap in territory but are known to squabble over potential kills when they do.

Church Grim
Padfoots are known to get themselves killed when attempting to attack humans in chapels.

Gytrash
Padfoots fare poorly in confrontations, too slow to make consistent attacks.
